Harm Done- 1999
Shortly after Lizzie Cromwell returns from the dead, another young woman
disappears, just as a convicted paedophile is released back into the
community. Local residents are up in arms, and even prepared to take
the law into their own hands...
Chief Inspector Wexford is not only concerned very personally with the
effects of violence and prejudice, but is involved with a new programme
to help the victims of domestic violence. His daughter, Sylvia, whose
marriage is in difficulties, has also come to work nearby in a refuge
for battered women.
After those early disappearances, two far more serious crimes are committed
which will affect the lives and attitudes of police and public alike.
| The
Babes in the Wood - 2002
A couple Roger and Karina Dade returns from a weekend in Paris to find
their two teenage children and the baby-sitter have disappeared. With
the area around the town of Kingsmarkham flooded, the mother and Chief
Inspector Wexford's superior both think they have drowned - but when
the "Subaqua" frogmen find nothing Wexford's intuitions are
confirmed. Are the children babes in the wood or are they no innocents?
Are they still alive? In any event, their disappearance will catalyse
the breakup of several marriages.
